Dear E-Mak,
In my opinion Penn State has to take down the statue of Joe Paterno. It’s tough to say that 61 years of contributions to the program can be erased by a single event. But the truth is that preying on children is the worse type off offense possible. I know Joe Paterno didn’t actually commit the crime himself, but Freeh’s report illustrates he clearly looked the other way.
Not to mention from a strictly practical standpoint the statue is terrible branding for Penn State University. Any time a TV camera captures that statue, or a fan from another city enters the stadium, it will be hard to think of anything but the Sandusky scandal. It’s a memory the university must take all steps to cleanse itself of.
Love the show.
